Film Shooting To Be Suspended On Jan 23

Expressing shock over the ‘unilateral decision’ of an employees body on pay scale revision, Tamil Film Producers Council today announced suspending shooting on January 23 for an emergency general council meet to discuss the issue.

While pay revision was decided once in three years after consultations between TFPC and Film Employees’ Federation of South India (FEFSI), the latter had gone ahead with announcing a ‘unilateral’ scale this time, insisting the new structure should come into effect immediatly.

The talks had not concluded in the wake of the constitution of new members to TFPC, it said in a release here adding FEFSI had in the meantime announced a wage structure.

“This is shocking as it seems to question the democratic functioning in this matter. The two (associations) discuss and jointly decide the wage-scale once in three years. This is a unilateral decision (by FEFSI)”.

To discuss this matter, an emergency meeting of TFPC general council will be held on January 23. All shooting will be suspended to enable all members participate, the release added.
